In light of his violent incident with actor Will Smith at this year’s ceremony, comedian Chris Rock said he had turned down an invitation to host the following Academy Awards.
According to the news sources, Rock made the comments on Sunday during a comedy gig in Phoenix. He also informed the audience that he had turned down a role in a Super Bowl commercial.
According to the insider, the 57-year-old comedian claimed that going back towards the Oscars following making a joke that led to last year’s eventual “best actor” winner slapping him would have been like asking Nicole Brown Simpson “to go back to the restaurant.”
Rock declared, “He’s larger than me.”
He continued, “A fight between Will Smith and I would not be approved by the state of Nevada.”

He said on Instagram, “Chris, I’m sorry to you. I’ve sought out Rock to work through our differences,” and added that he had done so. “My conduct was improper. And I’m there if you need to chat.
Rock stated, according to the Arizona Republic, that he was approached to host the 2023 Oscars but declined the offer, during his performance on Sunday night in Phoenix. This comes after the comedian received a smack from Will Smith earlier this year at the Academy Awards ceremony after making a joke about Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith. Rock said that after the event, he declined the chance to appear in a Super Bowl advertisement.
