Regina George from the original Mean Girls made a surprise appearance with Reneé Rapp on Saturday Night Live!

The character’s actor Rachel McAdams made an unexpected guest appearance on the program to introduce Rapp, 24, who plays Regina George in this year’s musical adaptation of the classic film.

Wearing a purple roll-neck sweater and a red pants suit, 45-year-old Rachel McAdams, who starred in the original film with Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert, smiled and clapped her hands together as the excited crowd applauded her unexpected appearance on the SNL stage.

“Ladies and gentlemen, ladies and gentlemen, once again, Renee Rapp!” she exclaimed as she motioned for Rapp to start her rendition of “Not My Fault” with Megan Thee Stallion, who made another thrilling surprise appearance on stage to accompany her.

This week’s musical guest on Saturday Night Live, hosted by Jacob Elordi, Rapp dazzled with her voice as she performed “Not My Fault” and her song “Snow Angel,” which Elordi introduced.

In the meantime, McAdams made an appearance in a joke in which she portrayed Natalie Partman, an actress who had founded OnlyFans. In the sketch, Partman asked Elordi, 26, for career guidance for “someone who looks like a famous person.”

A Thursday teaser video hinted at the singer’s appearance ahead of the concert. Rapp described Priscilla actor Bowen Yang, who also starred in the entertaining clip, “so baby girl.”

“I’m a young girl? What is Reneé doing now?” Then Elordi enquired.

“Me?” Rapp chuckled in response. “Oh, I’m a mother.”

Celebrities who expressed their excitement and support in the comments included Rachel Zegler, Ariana DeBose, and Rapp’s Mean Girls mother Busy Philipps.

The unexpected debut on Saturday comes after Rapp praised her character originally portrayed by Rachel McAdams in the 2004 movie in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE earlier this month.
