Lionsgate is supporting the Antoine Fuqua-directed project. Jaafar Jackson, Jackson’s nephew, will portray the renowned musician in the movie. Universal Pictures has international rights for the picture, barring Japan. Graham King will produce along with John Branca and John McClain, who are the co-executors of the Michael Jackson estate. The screenplay was written by John Logan, the author of Gladiator and The Aviator.

Lionsgate is described in The Hollywood Reporter as claiming that the movie would cover every facet of Jackson’s life, although it’s unknown how the producers will handle the controversy surrounding the late music legend. The biopic is being produced in collaboration with his estate, who has stood up for him in the face of allegations that he molested minors. The 2019 HBO documentary Leaving Neverland brought the charges back into the public eye.

Michael Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana, USA (an industrial suburb near Chicago, Illinois) to a middle class home on August 29, 1958. He was the eighth of nine children born to Joseph Walter “Joe” and Katherine Esther.
