Rorie Buckey and Robert Irwin declared openly about their separation. In pictures uploaded on their official Instagram pages on Friday, Buckey, 19, and the zookeeper, 20, who is the son of the late Steve Irwin, announced their breakup.
“We would like to inform you that we have decided to part ways, but we value the time we had together and wish each other the best in the future,” the joint statement stated.
“As we pursue our journeys, we would like to convey our appreciation and regard for each other,” Irwin and Buckey went on. They shared, “We won’t be commenting further on this, and appreciate your respect and privacy at this time.”
Irwin and Buckey, who is the niece of late actor Heath Ledger and is a physiotherapy student at Curtin University in Perth, Australia, were initially connected in November 2022.
In July 2023, they made their romance official when they went to see Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One in Sydney together.
Later that year, in November, the ex-couple made their red carpet debut by attending the 2023 Earthshot Prize in Singapore, which honors creative solutions to tackle climate change. Prince William was seen at the function shaking Irwin’s hand and grinning warmly in response.
Buckey posted a cute video of the couple posing together in New York City in September 2023. She commented, beneath a black-and-white picture of the pair, “R&R take on NYC!! .” Irwin also posted a carousel image of the couple painting together in the same month.

Buckey was in a picture that Bindi Irwin, Irwin’s sister, posted of friends and family later in October. “@roriebuckey, my brother’s gorgeous girlfriend,” she captioned the photo.
She added further in the caption, “Sweetest soul, beautiful friend, I love her dearly and you’ll usually see Grace just following her around because she adores her.”
