The Living Legends of Aviation Awards are being held in honor of Prince Harry. They will introduce the Duke of Sussex.
The 39-year-old Duke of Sussex was present at Friday night’s 21st Annual Living Legends of Aviation Awards in Beverly Hills. Meghan Markle did not accompany her husband to the event.
Prince Harry was among the four individuals who were honored last week by the Kiddie Hawk Air Academy as being inducted into the Living Legends of Aviation. John Travolta, the “Official Ambassador of Aviation,” is hosting the ceremony, which honors “those who have made significant contributions to aviation/aerospace.”
The Kiddie Hawk Air Academy is an independent nonprofit that uses teaching to encourage young minds in aviation. It is responsible for organizing the Living Legends of Aviation Awards. This year’s other honorees include American aviator Steve Hinton, who set a global speed record from 1979 to 1989, and Navy pilot Fred George, who serves as President and CEO of CAE (previously Canadian Aviation Electronics), Marc Parent, and others. William Shatner, Kurt Russell, and Kenny G are anticipated to attend the “Elling Halvorson Vertical Flight Hall of Fame Award” presentation to Lauren Sánchez.
During his ten years in the British Army, Prince Harry flew helicopters on combat flights in Afghanistan as well as training missions in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia.
After completing the eight-month Army Pilot Course at the Army Aviation Centre, where he learned to fly the Firefly fixed-wing aircraft and the Squirrel helicopter and accrued over 220 flight hours, Prince Harry was granted his flight Wings in 2010. He was named the top co-pilot gunner during training and became a fully operational Apache pilot in February 2012.
