Focus Features unveiled a brand-new, full trailer for the biopic on the famous singer Winehouse, who passed away in 2011 at the age of 27 after suffering from alcohol poisoning. The trailer was released on Friday.
Back to Black is billed as the “extraordinary story of Amy Winehouse‘s early rise to fame from her early days in Camden through the making of her groundbreaking album Back to Black that catapulted Winehouse to global fame” an official synopsis for the movie.
“I told from Amy’s eyes and prompted by her deeply personal lyrics, the film uncovers and appreciates the many layers of the iconic artist and the tumultuous love story at the centre of one of the most legendary albums of all time,” according to the trailer.
A teaser trailer for the film, which debuted last month, hinted that it will include scenes reminiscent of Winehouse’s controversial 2008 Grammy performance. It also discusses Winehouse’s private life, particularly her connection with her mother Janis Winehouse and her romance with Blake Fielder-Civil.
Back to Black was directed by filmmaker Sam Taylor-Johnson who has produced a hitmaker, Fifty Shades of Grey, who previously worked with screenwriter Matt Greenhalgh on her first feature picture, Nowhere Boy.
The film’s cast also includes Eddie Marsan, Bronson Webb, Ansu Kabia, Harley Bird, and Abela as the lead part of Winehouse. On May 17, Back to Black will premiere in theatres.
