Nicole Eggert recalls the memories of relationships with the late Corey Haim. She openly talked about her highs and lows in that relationship.

The 52-year-old former Baywatch star is describing the feelings associated with being engaged to Haim, who passed away from pneumonia in 2010 at the age of 38 while battling an addiction.

The two shared the screen in multiple films, starring in Blown Away (1992) and Anything for Love (1993).

The forthcoming four-part documentary series Baywatch: The American Dream will feature Eggert. Under Matt Felker’s direction, it will explore the on- and off-screen lives of the cast of the 1989–2001 television series. The actress appeared on Baywatch between 1992 and 1994.

On the sets of their collaborators, she enjoyed being near Haim, she exclusively tells PEOPLE, but things got “heavy” behind closed doors.

“It frightened me. It seemed creepy,” she remarks. But she praises him that he never convinced her to do anything with him, but recalls the first time when she saw cocaine with him. “Though looking back it may seem a little odd, it was their private matter, and he never attempted to involve me in it”, she added.

They first connected on the set of the movie Blown in the early 1990s.

She claims that at the time, she was juggling her acting career with dealing with three years of sexual assault at the hands of her costar Scott Bawhom who she had starred with in Charles in Charge, from the ages of 14 to 17. But, Baio has refuted the claims numerous times.

Haim shared with Eggert about his trauma after he revealed to her that he had also been sexually abused, but she claims she never shared hers with him.

Their engagement and two-year romance were centered on Haim’s ongoing battles with addiction. Eggert claims she didn’t know how to help him when he ran out of medications, so she would take him to the hospital.

Eggert claims that after cutting her ties with him she only spoke with Haim from “here and there”. She claims she loved him nevertheless, right up to his passing nearly two decades later.

As one parent of two daughters, Keegan, 12, and Dilyn, 25, Eggert, who exclusively disclosed her health battle to PEOPLE after being diagnosed with stage 2 cribriform carcinoma breast cancer in early December 2023, says “It’s been a difficult journey, but she will always cherish her love for the late star”.
