The romance rumours of Martin Short and Meryl Streep were speculated by the public which got clearance as Short stated that both co-stars from ‘Only Murders in the Building’ are just friends

The news of their romance was greatly exaggerated.

After the Golden Globe’s award event, fans have seen some closeness between the Meryl Streep and Martin Short costars.

But on Tuesday morning, a spokesperson of Short gave a clearance that the pair are just good friends, nothing else. The rumors are false.

Last October, Mamma Mia! Star, 74, parted ways with her husband Don Gummer (45) However, the news broke that the couple had mutually and secretly separated from each other six years ago.

“Couple, Don Gummer and Meryl Streep, split their lives six years ago but they will always care for each other because the decision was taken mutually,” a representative for Streep told PEOPLE in a statement.

Since 2018, the couple had not made any public appearance, but the three-time Oscar winner was earlier spotted wearing her wedding band just days before the split was confirmed.

In September, the couple celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. She and Gummer, 77 tied the knot in 1978 after dating for six months together. They share four children: son Henry and daughters Mamie, Grace, and Louisa.

On the other hand, Short, 73, lost his wife, actress Nancy Dolman, to ovarian cancer in 2010. The pair stayed together for 30 years and was known for their relationship as a “triumph” in an interview with the Magazine in 2019.

Short and Dolman share a daughter Katherine, 40, and sons Oliver, 37, and Henry, 34.
