Here comes the official announcement that AC/DC will perform live at Croke Park on August 17. The band will conclude a 21-date European tour in Dublin, having celebrated their 50th anniversary just a year ago. Named after the band’s most recent studio album, which came out in November 2020, is the “Power Up European tour”.
Lead guitarist Angus Young is the only member of the original lineup still standing, however singer Brian Johnson has returned after undergoing surgery to address hearing loss. Axl Rose of Guns N’ Roses replaced Johnson on the 2016 Rock or Bust tour.
Johnson, Angus Young, Stevie Young who took over for the late Malcolm Young in 2017 new drummer Matt Laug, and an unidentified bassist who will take Cliff Williams’ position will make up the band for the Croke Park show.
The last time AC/DC performed in Ireland was in 2015, when the Aviva Stadium was sold out. After Malcolm Young passed away, many people thought they would never tour again. However, on October 7th of last year, they surprised the audience by showing up at the Power Trip event in California.
With their 1980 release Back in Black, AC/DC holds the record for the most sold rock album of any band in history. With one billion views on YouTube for the official Back in Black video, they continued to get the fame from their fans in this digital era.
