The world lost the talent of Selena Quintanilla too soon as she passed away at an early age. When the singer, also known by her stage name Selena, passed away at the age of 23, she was still climbing the music industry’s ladder. The “Como La Flor” singer started out performing when she was young, playing in the band Selena y Los Dinos alongside her sister Suzette Quintanilla and brother A.B. Quintanilla. Selena began performing solo in 1989, and in 1993, her album Selena Live! won the Grammy Award for best Mexican-American record.

Her performance in front of a record-breaking crowd of about 67,000 people at the Houston Astrodome Livestock Show & Rodeo in February 1995 was one of the highlights of her career.

Regretfully, Yolanda Saldívar, her erstwhile business associate, killed her the next month on March 31, 1995, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

The world was shocked by Selena’s unexpected passing, especially her incredibly loyal fan following. Her family and her bereaved husband, Chris Pérez, have continued her legacy years after thousands of fans wept over her death. They have celebrated her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, held yearly musical tributes, and opened a museum showcasing her possessions.
