Carly Simon’s both sister Lucy Simon, and Joanna Simon died one day apart last week. Lucy Simon is a Broadway composer and Joanna is an opera singer. Unfortunately they both died of can cancer. Joanna died in Wednesday from thyroid cancer and Lucy died on Thursday from breast cancer.
Although both of them was in their 80s. Joanna was 85 and Lucy 82, respectively. In many reports it is mentioned that Joanna died in a hospital in Manhattan and Lucy died in her own home in Piedmont, New York. Lucy and Carly started their career in music together and they were known as The Simon Sisters. They would go on to release the song “Wynken, Blynken & Nod,” which charted at No. 73 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1964.
Though Carly’s career changed with many hit songs since her starting of career. She became formidable force in the pop world. She had multiple hit including Anticipation,” “You’re So Vain” and “That’s The Way I’ve Always Heard It Should Be,” among many others. Meanwhile Lucy eventually released only two albums in 1975 and 1977.
Finally Lucy got success in 1980s as children’s music producer. She and her husband David Levine produced few albums and earned fame from it and finally Lucy got success in her career in 1980s.
On the other hand Broadway composer gave Lucy a stardom and she earned more fame from it. She earned a Tony Award nomination for Best Original Score, and the musical personality had a whopping 709 performances on Broadway.
Joanna made her debut in New York opera in 1962. She travelled all around the world to perform. She travelled with many iconic orchestra’s including the New York and Vienna Philharmonics. Moreover Joanna also threw her hat in journalism and there also she showed her skills and earned fame.
Joanna and Cronkite became fast friends and then that relationship turned into romantic life . Finally they got married. But unfortunately they got to live only 4 years together until Cronkite died in 2009.
The only Simon sister alive now is Carly and only Simon sibling left is also Carly as their brother also died from cancer. All the family members died so far because of cancer.
