Derek Hough won the Emmy award on Saturday and dedicates his achievement to his wife  Hayley Erbert. 
The award event; Creative Arts Emmy Award was held on Saturday where he bagged an award for best choreography for variety or reality programming for his work on Dancing with the Stars. This recognition brought tears to his eyes for many reasons. He praised his wife Hayley Erbert, who went through some skull surgery and is recovering now. 

With teary eyes, he expressed, “A Month back, I was in the hospital. This was a different moment”.

He continued by saying, “A month ago was a life-changing moment that reminded me to really cherish and savor every moment.”

Expressing his gratitude, “I would love to dedicate this award to my beautiful wife. Your strength and your courage throughout this has been unbelievable. You are my inspiration”. Derek came from Washington, D.C. to attend this award night. 

Derek’s wife was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel when the newly wedded couple was in Washington D.C. for the Symphony of Dance tour. After a few weeks, Erbert underwent a second surgery for a follow-up cranioplasty to repair her skull, which was concluded successfully.

In that speech, he shared, “This surgery marks a significant milestone in my wife’s recovery journey, and your support has played a crucial role in getting us here.”

Hough has been giving all health updates to his social media followers since Erbert’s surgery. Also, he appreciated their constant support and prayers which helped them to recover. 

He wrote a heartfelt message for his followers, “Your thoughts, prayers, and positive energy have been a source of strength and comfort for us during this challenging time”.
