2024 People's Choice Awards

The popular couple on trend Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce both bagged at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards. We all know that they had been supporting one another for months in their respective fields. Swift took home four awards for the categories of pop artist, concert tour, female artist, and social celebrity. At the parallel, Travis Kelce won the award for Athlete of the Year.

The event broadcast live from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California was hosted by actor and author Simu Liu and broadcast on NBC, Peacock, and E! on Sunday. For his part in Barbie, Liu received a nomination in the cinematic performance category, but America Ferrera won in that category.

Olivia Rodrigo succeeded for song (“Vampire”) and album (Guts); Nicki Minaj won for hip-hop artist and song collaboration (the latter for “Barbie World,” a joint effort with Ice Spice and Aqua); Ice Spice won for both new artist and that category; Jimmy Fallon won for host (for That’s My Jam) and nighttime talk show (The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon).

TV category awards went to three Billboard Hot 100-charting artists. For Swarm, Billie Eilish won the best TV performance. The female TV star Selena Gomez succeeded for Only Murders in the Building. The Kelly Clarkson Show, Kelly Clarkson’s midday talk show defeated.

Barbie took home five awards: acting in a motion picture (Ferrera), comedy film, and film starring Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie.

Robbie’s victory as a female movie star somewhat atones for her lack of an Oscar nomination for Best Actresses. Similarly, the rapper’s Grammy loss in the Best New Artist category is somewhat made up for by Ice Spice’s win in the New Artist category.

Action movie and movie stars went to The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, which took home two Oscars. Rachel Ziegler won both.

The Kardashians for The Last of Us, and Only Murders in the Building all shared two wins apiece. Pedro Pascal’s “The Last of Us” won drama show and male TV star. Khloé Kardashian (who defeated sister Kim) earned a reality program and reality TV star title for the Kardashian family.
