Kacey Fifield is a Los Angeles based Singer/Songwriter and Actress with a passion for making relatable music. Her powerful voice and introspective lyrics make it easy to see why Kacey’s music resonates so much with her teenage fans. I recently had the opportunity to interview Kacey about her journey so far in the industry and what she has planned for the future.
1. How did you get your start in the entertainment industry?
When I was 6, I heard a radio advertisement for an acting school in my hometown of Chicago. I had always enjoyed recreating scenes from my favorite shows and movies, so my parents agreed to let me audition for the acting school. I got in and, soon after, I was in Los Angeles filming TV shows and films!
2. When did you discover you had a passion for music?
My very first musical influences were the TV shows I grew up watching Victorious, Big Time Rush, and iCarly. I’ve always loved singing along with my favorite songs from those shows and whatever was on the radio at the time. Even when I was super young, I would write dramatic lyrics about random occurrences in my life! I always knew that I wanted to release my own music. When I was 10, I got the opportunity to work with the talented producer Ricardo Padua to release my first original song, “When I Grow Up.”
3. You released an album in 2022. How did you decide which songs will go on the album?
The creative process involved a lot of reflecting, introspecting, and thinking deeply. I chose the 12 songs on “Between the Lines” because they depicted the story I hoped to portray. The songs cover the feeling of looking past the surface and contemplating the difficult questions related to toxicity, heartbreak, lost friendships, and fame.
4. What do you love the most about writing and recording music?
It’s always so rewarding to hear that people can relate to my music and that my lyrics make them feel heard. My listeners are so important to me, and it means the world that I can play a small role in helping people feel less alone in their struggles.
5. Do you have any plans for another album in 2023?
I’m definitely working on new music, but another album would take another couple of years at least! I plan on focusing on refining my artistic vision in terms of the new songs I’ll release this year as well as performing live.
6. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? In 10 years?
Regarding music-related goals, I would love to have gone on tour! Performing live is so much fun and it’d be amazing to have more opportunities to share my music with people. If I’m dreaming super big, a Grammy would be the ultimate dream! Aside from music, I’m currently applying to colleges as a high school senior, so having received a college education is one of my main goals as well.
7. What is one fun thing your fans don’t know about you?
Some already know this, but I have 4 cats! I’ve loved animals for as long as I can remember and have been volunteering with various rescues as well as fostering pets for the past 6 years. All four of my cats are rescues!
