Kristina Menissov seems to be doing it all! As a model, she has graced the covers of magazines and strutted down runways all over the world. Starting out as an opera singer, she has transitioned into a pop star with a flourishing music career, yet her favorite title is Mom. Recently she took time out of her busy schedule to chat with me about her career and gives other moms tips on how to balance it all!

You are a model and a singer. What do you love about both of those?

What I love about modeling the campaign shoots and runway shows, is they make me feel confident and help me to stay present in the moment without my mind wandering anywhere else. It is very similar with singing. I love my time at the studio, and I love performing on stage where I can connect with the audience exchange energy and share love.

You started out as an opera singer. How did you get interested in Opera?

When I was 5 my mom and my aunt were passing by a music school that were holding auditions that day. We walked in, I performed as song, and I was accepted. I finished middle school as a piano player and at that time I realized that I wanted to be at the front of the stage. When I got to high school, I switched to Opera singing and eventually went to college as a classical singer. Later on, with a student exchange program, I went to Italy to study Opera.

Singing Opera is so difficult! How did you discover you had a talent for Opera?

Honestly, I didn’t discover the talent. I am one of the cases where I had to study hard and practice a lot to do it.

What are some of your favorite brands you have modeled for so far?

I loved modeling Cartier pieces at the shoot for VOGUE Latin America. Each one of their pieces is an art. It felt like I was wearing an art.

What advice do you have for aspiring models?

Treat modeling as actual work. Write, plan, and spend time and it will eventually pay off.

You also have a young son. How do you balance work and motherhood?

Actually, having my son helped me. I became more organized. I now have a schedule and I don’t mumble when someone asking me when my availability is because I know my schedule in advance because of him. This shows that I am serious about my career and people respect that and try don’t waste my time.

Do you have any advice for moms who are trying to do it all?

Don’t burn yourself out. Set a plan, but if you feel like you can’t do it and you need a break, write in your plan a break! A happy mom is a super mom that can do it all!

Any plans for releasing new music soon?

I am working on a few collaborations as well as my EP. My first collaboration is with Daria Dali and that will be released this summer followed by a music video. The second collaboration is me trying something completely new with the rock band STRYFE. This collaboration makes me nervous and excited at the same time to see how my audience will take it. My EP will be released by the end of 2023, so guys please stay tuned and follow me to not miss it all.
