To appear at Super Bowl LVIII, Reba McEntire is fully prepared. The country music icon revealed to Apple Music in a recent interview that she has been preparing for the performance in a very relevant way. On the Super Bowl Match to be held on Sunday, she will sing the National Anthem before the game starts in Las Vegas.

“In the shower and when we get in the car, I’ve been singing the National Anthem,” the 68-year-old McEntire remarked, alluding to her car journeys with her boyfriend, the actor Rex Linn, who is a “huge football fan.”

“‘Okay, sing it another time,” he’ll say.

As she was getting ready, the Grammy winner remarked, “I think I know the words well right now, so I’m alright.” She also mentioned how helpful it is to know that everyone will be singing along with her at Allegiant Stadium.

The National Anthem is sung at sporting events by McEntire, who has been doing it since she was a teenager. “If I know they’re singing along, and they’re remembering and having fun too, that’s easier on me,” McEntire remarked.

The “Fancy” singer spoke up about what the Super Bowl means to her and said that she feels “honored beyond words” to be singing at the game for the first time.

“I have the honor of performing a very special song for all Americans and people everywhere who have dedicated their lives to preserving our freedom and bringing about peace,” she said to Apple Music anchor Nadeska Alexis.

She expressed, “I’m extremely grateful to get to perform this song; it’s not about me. I’m the expression of it. It’s an excellent one. I’m extremely pleased to get to sing it since I’ve been singing it for 50 years.”

She is now quite happy that Super Bowl LVII will be held in one of her favorite cities. “Las Vegas is the favorite place to visit. I came here for the first time in ’83 when I opened for the Statler Brothers at the MGM Grand,” McEntire said.

She continued, “The Super Bowl has never taken place in Nevada, the state of Nevada, so it is a milestoneseveraler of matters, and I’m just tickled to pieces to be a part of it.”

At Super Bowl LVIII, where Usher will lead the halftime show, Post Malone will sing “America the Beautiful” and Andra Day will perform “Lift Every Voice and Sing” in addition to McEntire’s performance of the national anthem.
