Actress and Content Creator, Talia Cuomo, lives by the motto to stay positive! Best known for her role in the series, “New Amsterdam”, this talented young actress does not let anything stand in her way. Talia has her eye on the prize and is working hard to achieve her goals. I recently caught up with Talia for this insightful interview about her acting career as well as her advice on social media.

You are an actress and a content creator. Why do you think social media is important for young actors?

I think social media is a great way for actors to get noticed and start off their career. It helps them connect with people in the industry and share their projects.

Do you have any advice for your followers on how to handle negative comments on their social media?

I’d say just ignore the negativity. I know everyone says that, and it’s somewhat cliche, but it’s true! The people leaving those comments often have issues.  Focusing on positive feedback and surrounding yourself with supportive people is a great way to overcome it.

How do you come up with ideas for your social media content?

I usually post my achievements or experiences, or something that I think others might enjoy viewing. I don’t pressure myself to post all the time – just whenever I feel like it.

How did you start your acting career?

When I was about 4 years old, my mom decided to get me into acting; according to my mom, I was really talkative and socialized a lot with other kids and adults. Inspired by a successful neighbor in the field, my mom took the initiative to sign me up with an acting coach, and then it all started.

What has been your favorite role so far?

Each role I’ve played has been special to me in its own way. If I had to choose my favorite role so far, it would probably be the role of Lily in New Amsterdam. The character was a key part of the plot and had a big impact on the audience. I really enjoyed working with Janet Montgomery and Tyler Labine.

Actors often face a lot of rejection in their careers. How do you handle rejection?

I try to stay positive no matter what. I don’t see not getting a role as rejection. There are many reasons why an actor might not get a job. It often doesn’t have anything to do with performance. Also, I stay optimistic and keep persevering. By working hard, I know I can create plenty of opportunities.

What advice would you give to young actors that want to get started in this business?

I’d say having the drive to succeed will get you far. But I would also say to have fun and enjoy the process. Don’t be discouraged by not getting a role and take it as a sign that a better role is out there for you. Persevere and be patient!

Are there any upcoming projects you can share with our readers?

A person I have worked with in the past has been developing his own film and has asked me to be the main character in it. I look forward to starting a new project and having a new experience.
