Taylor Swift can't perform

The news sparked that Taylor Swift is able to perform in Singapore but not in other Southeast Asian nations. Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin of Thailand claims that Swift can only perform in Singapore and not anywhere else in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) area, as per a deal with concert promoter Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG).

Six sold-out performances of Taylor Swift are scheduled to take place at Singapore’s National Stadium.

Taylor Swift is a well-known celebrity who has a sizable fan base worldwide. But when her current Eras Tour was revealed, 151 performances on five continents six of which were in Singapore were scheduled. However, Thailand and other Southeast Asian nations did not have any plans for a concert.

A contract between the concert promoter and the Singaporean government explained the reason. Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin of Thailand claims that concert organizer Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) notified him of a deal that restricts Swift’s performance to Singapore and excludes all other countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which is made up of ten nations.

Next month, the pop icon will play six sold-out gigs at Singapore’s National Stadium. In addition, Thavisin stated that Swift has been promised between $2 and $3 million for each show by the Singaporean government in exchange for exclusivity.

Srettha remarked, “The Singaporean government is clever. It would have been less expensive to organize it here, and I think she could draw more sponsors and travelers to Thailand if she had come here.”  The authorities confirmed, “It would be worthwhile even if we had to provide at least 500 million baht in subsidies”.

He stated, “I would have brought the shows to Thailand if I had known this”  “Concerts have the potential to create additional economic value,” he continued, speaking at a business gathering in Bangkok.

2014 saw Swift’s first-ever gig scheduled to take place in Thailand, but political instability cancelled the show. Currently, she is on the Eras Tour  which has proven to be a huge success, topping a whopping $1 billion in revenue to become the highest-grossing tour of all time.
