Apple TV+ disclosed on Monday that the much-awaited second season of Severance has already started production.
The star Adam Scott was shown running in a black-and-white photo in the streamer’s collaborative Instagram post with executive producer and director Ben Stiller, which captioned, “Back to work.”
The news of Scott’s 50-year comeback to work was equally welcome. The Parks and Recreation alum posted the identical image to Instagram along with the caption, “Lovely being back at the office.”
The news brought joy to fans from all walks of life, including celebrities like Jack Quaid and Alison Brie. Brie, 41, exclaimed, “Well, hallelujah!” while Quaid, 31, remarked, “YES!”
“BEST NEWS EVER,” exclaimed Daryl Sabara, to which Melanie Lynskey responded with emojis of hearts and pooper with “SO EXCITED.” Dan Erickson’s series Severance, which followed Scott’s character Mark after he underwent a procedure suggested by his employer, Lumon Industries, which divides employees’ personal and professional lives so they can remain focused on their work. Nevertheless, as Mark gradually uncovers secrets lurking below the outer layer, he begins to wonder what Lumon is really up to.
In addition, the show’s first season starred Zach Cherry, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Jen Tullock, Dichen Lachman, Michael Chernus, John Turturro, Christopher Walken, and Patricia Arquette. This was praised by critics and garnered 14 nominations for the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards.
Subsequently, it was revealed that Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Robby Benson, Stefano Carannante, John Noble, Merritt Wever, Alia Shawkat, and Bob Balaban are among the new faces who will be appearing in season 2.
Due to the now-resolved Writers Guild of America (WGA), Screen Actors Guild, and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strikes, which concluded in September and November, respectively, have delayed the production on the upcoming project.

Stiller provided an update on the second season’s status earlier this month, saying on X (previously Twitter) that they were “working on” a return. Severance, he had previously disclosed months earlier, “has always been a multi-season story.”
