The bond between Laura Dern and Taylor Swift is unique! The 56-year-old Jurassic Park actress spoke exclusively with PEOPLE on Saturday night at the Environmental Media Association Awards Gala. When asked what she would know about Swift as a friend that her fans might not get to see, Dern gave a moving response.
“I think people who love her know that,” Dern says of the 34-year-old Swift, “because she cares about everything deeply.” She goes on, “They know that in her writing, in her heart, and through her activism but it’s been amazing to know that as a friend too”.
When asked if she would be rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs in their AFC Championship game versus the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, Dern, who is good friends with Swift. She responded diplomatically, “Of course, tight end Travis Kelce, the boyfriend of the “Blank Space” singer, plays for the Chiefs”.
Previously this month, at the Common Ground documentary premiere, the Oscar winner who featured in Swift’s “Bejeweled” music video in 2022 gave another image of her connection with the singer.
At the event, Dern told PEOPLE, “I love and admire her so much. It’s one of my deep friendships.” “She’s a superpower to find a friend amidst the creativity as she’s amazing,” she continued, “Well, that’s been a lot of fun.”
In an interview with PEOPLE, she discussed their bond during Thursday’s Common Ground premiere at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.
Dern said she wasn’t sure if appearing in the song video had helped her get more Swifties as fans. She stated, “I’m not sure”. She continued, “It’s unclear, but I accept it.”
