Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake, have no regrets or not feeling so much. Their apologies are never ending.
Before singing “Cry Me a River,” Timberlake, 43, reportedly said to the audience at his Wednesday night performance in New York City, “I’d like to take this opportunity to apologize to absolutely f—ing nobody.” From the audience, someone verified this to PEOPLE, and Spears, 42, seemed to react on Instagram.
“It was reported to me that someone was making fun of me in public!” the “Everytime” singer stated in an Instagram post on Thursday. “Will you go home and sob to your mother like you did the previous time, or do you want to take it to court? I apologize”, she stated.
In her 2023 memoir The Woman In Me, Spears discussed her relationship with Timberlake in earlier years. She wrote that she had an abortion while carrying his child, also he broke up with her through text message, that he had been deceiving on her.Also, she had been publicly embarrassed by the song and video for “Cry Me a River” in 2002, which is rumored to have been about her cheating on him. On this topic she has acknowledged in the book.
Just over a month after seeming to address her comments on the popular song, Timberlake announced on Wednesday that he’s sorry to “absolutely f—ing nobody” before starting “Cry Me a River”.
During a live performance in December at the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas, he addressed the audience, saying, “No disrespect,” before starting into the song.
His most recent remarks also coincide with the fact that Spears just removed an additional Instagram post in which she discussed tales from her novel.
“I would like to express my regret for some of the topics I discussed in my book. The singer apologized profusely if she upset anyone who they truly care for in a tweet that included a video of Timberlake performing a medley of his classics with The Roots” on a recent edition of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
