The singer called him to offer a project in her new musical album This Is Me…Now: A Love Story features a number of superstars, including the comedian. After learning about the opportunity, the South African comic couldn’t believe it was real.
“That was an unplanned call where your phone rings, and it’s Jennifer Lopez, and you’re like, ‘This must be a prank,'” 39-year-old Noah tells PEOPLE.
He continued, “You’re like, ‘Whoa,’ and she wants you to come and make a cameo in her visual experience. Well, I’ll join in even if I have no idea what I’m doing.”
The 54-year-old Lopez released the teaser for This Is Me…Now: A Love Story earlier this month. The album will be released on February 16 alongside it. In the teaser, the Hustlers star was shown navigating both real-world obstacles and fantastical worlds in search of love.
The “Jenny from the Block” singer’s husband Ben Affleck, who is well-known for serving as the inspiration for her 2002 album This Is Me, will appear with her in the movie. Then, in addition to a host of well-known people, such as Derek Hough, Jenifer Lewis, Jay Shetty, Sadhguru, Fat Joe, Kim Petras, Post Malone, Keke Palmer, Jenifer Lewis, and Sofia Vergara.
“There’s just a fun combination of people who’ve come out to celebrate an icon and somebody who has, throughout different genres, really just blazed her own trail,” Noah states. “It was a lot of fun.”
Even though she participated in the project, the former cast member of Daily Show is uncertain about what fans might anticipate from This Is Me Presently: A Tale of Love.
“I’m eager to find out what it is. The amusing part is that they were really discreet about how they accomplished it, so I don’t know a lot about it,” says Noah.
With his show “I Wish You Would” nominated for Greatest Comedy Album, Noah is currently preparing to host the 2024 Grammy Awards.
